Microsoft has been undergoing a massive restructuring of departments and products with the aim of getting the company to focus on its core products and services while still creating value for the customers.
With Microsoft’s announcement earlier this month that it is expanding its SQL department and hiring more developers to help with the new SQL Server platform, these changes are coming to fruition. Microsoft has been hiring people to work on Microsoft SQL Server for several years now, and this is the latest company to announce that it has started hiring people specifically for SQL Server development.

Most of these positions will be at the same level of experience (or more) as developers currently working for Microsoft, and the more time you spend in these positions, the higher your wages will be.
SQL developer positions are generally more entry-level positions, and more than likely, most of them will offer the option to work on Windows Azure SQL Database. The reason Microsoft is hiring people for SQL developer positions is that they are looking for people who could work to increase the speed and availability of Windows Azure SQL Server, as well as Windows Azure SQL Database.
I feel the same attitude towards SQL Developer positions that I felt towards SQL Developer when I was on Windows Azure SQL Database. I’m not sure why I feel the same about SQL Developer roles in that role. Since I’m a Microsoft employee, I feel like there are different levels of responsibility for the roles.
Azure SQL Database is a great choice for someone who wants to build and maintain SQL Server applications. As a general rule however, SQL Database has many more responsibilities than SQL Server. It takes a lot more time to manage the database and all the SQL Server tasks required to maintain the database. Microsoft SQL Server has a lot to offer for someone who wants to make and maintain SQL Server applications.
SQL Server is a good choice if you have a lot of SQL Server experience, but it requires more work than SQL Database. It’s a little different because it takes more time to build and maintain SQL Server applications. It’s also a little different because it’s harder to keep these applications up and running. Not to mention all the additional maintenance work to keep things running.
