The world of freelancing is a really crazy one. Ive had to be creative with my freelance life as well.
I mean, sure, there are the people who are working for nothing. There are the people who are working for less than nothing. But let me put it this way: If I had to choose between working for nothing, or for $10,000, I would choose the latter. I would be able to live off of my savings, spend my time at home instead of at the office, and pay my bills on time.
It’s not that hard to get into the freelance-life, because there are so many ways you can get one. You can try it out on your own – this is a great way to get experience doing very specific things. Or you can do it with a very specific client you are working with, like a restaurant or an event planner. Or you can go and do it for a very specific group.
As I write this, I have a feeling that I will never be the best at this. If I can’t do this, I can’t do it.
The team in front of us is great. I hope she’s back on track to be a great worker. She’s going to be super great, but there’s so many aspects of her that she needs to work out. Like, the fact that she’s in the middle between her own boss and her boss’s boss, her way of putting her foot in her mouth. She’s definitely not a great worker, but she’s got the skills.
The reality is that this is all very scary. It’s like being able to walk over a cliff, or at the very least someone approaching you, and think, “I can’t do this because I’m taking too deep a cut off here.” Or you have a boss, and she’s going to do it.
Freelancers have always been the story of the working set. They are the ones who are in between jobs and trying to make ends meet. They are the ones who have to make it to the end of a deadline and hope they get paid, or have to move to a different time zone because they cant make ends meet. Freelancers are not supposed to be the ones who work hard and work smarter for a living, unless it is their passion or their calling.
People who are on the freelancer’side’ in this sense are actually the ones who have had to work harder and smarter to get where they are today.
The freelancers are the ones who are not allowed to complain about their hours or their job situation. They have no power to do so because they are not allowed to complain about their circumstances. They are merely allowed to keep silent and get on with their lives and work as much as possible.
