I usually get the recruiter, because if that’s not going to be you, you can pick another project. It’s a great way to get a lot more experience before you finally start your own company.

But the only problem my freelancing career is that you have to pay me for it, which is not too bad, because I’m paid by the hour.

That means knowing which genre or niche you want to write and knowing how to write it.
Another way to think about freelance writing is that you are not doing it for free. You will be paid for your efforts. You will be paid for your time and you will be paid for your expertise. If you are working for a client, you can set up a website and start writing and then when you have something to sell someone will come to you and negotiate a price. If it is a good opportunity for you, you will be paid for your time and expertise.
