I’m not a writer, so I’m not going to talk about writing books, but I have written several articles for newspapers and magazines, so I am pretty familiar with the process. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t like free content, because writing is always fun and I enjoy it. I’m not sure why I started freelancing, but I guess I just like the idea of working for myself and not having to pay someone else to do it.
This is also why most freelance jobs (like content creation) are so good, because you can work whenever you want, and you get paid for it too. This is especially important when it comes to starting a business, as you really don’t want to put your business on the back burner for fear of losing clients.
Freelance writers are often a dime a dozen, but they are a dime a day more if you’re starting out. The problem is that it’s not quite as easy to get started as it is getting a great first freelance job. Fortunately, you arent as bad off as you think, because there are a lot of people out there that are capable of writing excellent freelance content.
A lot of freelance writers are just regular people that have been motivated by a dream to start a business. This can be a great thing, but it can also be a very disappointing thing if you get it wrong. I know people that are self-taught, have been on the job market for a year or more, and just decided to start a freelance writing business because they were inspired by a dream.
It’s hard to know what to make of the people who just want to freelance write. Some people just want to do it because they have an idea, and no matter how bad that idea is, somehow, someway, they are going to knock it out of the park. I also know people who are self-taught who think they are going to be the next big internet superstar and they are going to make millions of dollars from it.
They can, and they do. The problem is that they are so self-taught that they might actually make a bad mistake. But I am not going to hold my breath for that.
It’s a very real fear of freelancing. Many freelancers become so accustomed to the hustle and stress of the gig world that they become over-reliant on them, so they might actually make a bad mistake. And if that is the case, then they would have to start all over again. Because freelancing is so easy, it can be easy to get in a bad habit of it.
