the last sentence may be a bit of a stretch, but the first sentence is true. the majority of our actions are not conscious. we tend to think about them while they are happening. but as we are more aware of our actions, we can choose those that we want to do and stay away from the ones we do not.
The first step to becoming better at being awake is to take the first step of becoming conscious.

One of my favorite things about meditation is that it helps me to become aware of my actions. The mind does a lot of the work. So if you have a lot of thoughts and a lot of questions about your life, it’s pretty easy to become aware of a question about your life, or a question about something that you have not really been thinking about all day.
