My kids are two and five years old, and they love to draw. I try to get them to draw at least a couple of times a week.
I get the same question from a lot of parents.
This is actually a fairly common question that is asked by parents of kids who are interested in drawing. I’ve talked to a couple of parents who were like, “Well, we really liked your last book. We just really wanted to make sure our children were getting a good solid foundation for their drawings.” I actually encourage this because my kids are doing OK drawing things without any instruction.
I think this is a very valid concern. I think drawing can be a really fun past time for kids, and I think it’s important for them to get a solid foundation in drawing first. When I teach drawing techniques, I like to explain the basic concepts of perspective and proportion and how to sketch a simple object before going into more complicated anatomy. We’re also encouraged to draw small kids as they get older.
I think the idea of encouraging kids to draw with no instruction (or even simply encouragement) is a really good idea. I think it’s really important not to make drawing instruction into a chore. I think drawing itself should be fun. I think kids need to be encouraged to do something they are interested in, and in doing so they can explore their own creativity.
I think that kids need encouragement to draw and I think it’s great that there’s a simple way to do it. Drawing can be a really fun way to learn a whole lot about anatomy and it’s amazing how much they can grow from a single simple drawing. Also, I think drawing can help kids understand their surroundings a lot better, they can observe things without being scared about what they see in front of them.
Children should draw as a way to explore themselves and their surroundings as well as to learn about the world around them. They should be encouraged to draw on a daily basis. The only way I know that drawing will improve a child’s art skills is if they are making art on a regular basis. So there’s a lot of good information in this article.
Children can learn a lot of really useful things about their surroundings just by looking at what others have drawn. Theres a ton of good information in this article.

This is an excellent article. There are a few things I would like to add, namely that you need to be comfortable with drawing simple shapes, but there are definitely some that are not so easy to draw. The examples given are really good and I would recommend you read the article. Draws the image from scratch. So this should be a pretty good source of information.
